Hot Graphics & Printing
HOT Graphics Printing was established, under the name House of Typography, on North Lauderdale in 1200 sq. We moved to North Second Street. In the pursuit of swiftness, additional efficiency, and to accommodate the increasing volume of business, the Linotype department was added. House of Typography was providing our customers with type set by the photographic process.

Phototype not only produced type of exceedingly high quality, it also enabled us to provide an exceptional variety of modern typefaces. The decade of the 80s had hardly begun when House of Typography turned to still another generation of phototypesetting: "setting of type by COMPUTER." By the last half of the 80s, desktop computers began to make an impact on the typesetting industry, House of Typography knew they couldn't stand still.

It was a busy year. Our name changed to HOT Graphics & Printing, Inc. to better represent the complete service we now provided for our customers. We also moved to our current location on Elmore Rd.

Does your artwork contain images, text or graphics that extend to the very edge of the finished piece?
This is called "bleeding off the edge" or simply "bleed".
Files with bleed need to be built to the final trim size plus 1/8 extra on each side for the bleed.
Example, if you are ordering an 8.5" x 11" sell sheet, the graphic file's size should 8.75" x 11.25".
When saving the file into the proper format (preferably PDF), do not use any crop or printer's marks.
These will increase the dimensions of the file.

Folding paper by bending each fold in the opposite direction of the previous fold creating a pleated or accordion effect.
Running a sheet of paper through a printing press at right angles to the grain direction of the paper, as opposed to with the grain.
This is usually suboptimal for both press operation and registration of the 4 color process inks.
Sometimes called cross grain.
This clear coating is used to protect printed pieces.
It provides a high-gloss or matte surface that deters dirt and fingerprints.
