Water-based inks are a good choice when a 'soft hand' is desirable.
A soft hand is the condition where the ink film cannot easily be felt with the hand when passed across the surface of the fabric.
After one wash the design on the garment can virtually feel undetected and part of the shirt itself.
Waterbase ink soaks into the garment when printed.
The commonly used plastisol ink tends to be more on top of the shirt and lending itself to the peeling effect that you may have seen on an old, heavily washed garment.
