Item, Inc was founded in February of 1979 by Tim Rizer, a former sales executive with Xerox and began doing business as one of the first companies to buy and sell used and refurbished copier equipment. The 1980's were a time of new electronic devices and one popular item was the Word Processor.
There were 47 different manufacturers of Word Processors including IBM, Wang and Xerox, and Item, Inc was a major player in this burgeoning market until the Personal Computer generally replaced dedicated Word Processing equipment.During the 1990's many third party service entities began providing alternatives to the manufacturer's own service operations, to save money and have better service options available.
Item, Inc formed sister companies Consolidated Computer Services and Copy Fix, Inc and hired the best technicians and technical support for printers, copiers and other imaging systems. We hired Xerox technicians and learned everything we could about Xerox products and how to effectively repair them.
