Pricing Tips
Report
If you are new at offering screen printing as a service, there is a good chance you are having a difficult time estimating your pricing.
Rather than base your pricing on what your customer wants to pay each time, it is wise to establish a set price list that is used to price all of your jobs.
Add up your monthly overhead, crunch the numbers, and have a goal to work toward in a per - shirt capacity.
Do your best to be aware of what shops in you area are charging, and keep it in mind when establishing your pricing.
White Ink Guide
Report
With so many different brands and products out there, choosing the right white plastisol can be overwhelming.
1. Bleed Resistance - are you printing cotton/polyester blended or 100% polyester tees?
If so, you will need to be aware of the important ink characteristic known as "bleed resistance".
The term "bleed" is used to describe the dye from the shirt migrating into the ink that you have printed.
To avoid "bleed" or "dye migration", use a white plastisol that is formulated to block the dye from bleeding into the plastisol.
Emulsion Guide
Report
Emulsion is the light sensitive liquid used to create a stencil on the screen.
It is one of the most important components in creating a good stencil, as well as a good print!
Diazo Emulsion is a basic, all purpose emulsion.
It has the lowest sensitivity to light, and has a wide exposure window.
It is usually not used for tiny detail.
If you are exposing your screens using a shop light or other lower power light source, diazo emulsion is probably your best choice.
Diazo emulsions must be "sensitized" using the diazo powder that ships with them.
