Popular choices range from white foam core to quarter inch or half inch black gator board.
An additional transparent layer of satin or gloss laminate will create a barrier against dust and UV light damage.
Your image can also be sandwiched and sealed between two laminate layers (encapsulation) for defense against all of the elements.
Mounting is the technique of fastening a print, photograph or other flat media to a mounting board by placing an adhesive layer on top of the mounting board, such as foam core or gator board.
