CI Medical provides critical medical pad printing services to medical device manufacturers. Established in 1985, we are the only ISO 9001:2015 certified pad printing company in the U.S. catering exclusively to the marking needs of the medical device industry. We operate our state-of-the-art, computerized pad printing equipment in a 20,000-square-foot environmentally-controlled production facility.
On-site plasma gas pretreatment, specialty medical grade inks and proprietary equipment customizations enable CI Medical to print on all substrates-including those with traditionally difficult adherence properties (FEP, PP, PE, PTFE, Silicone, Polyurethane and Delrin)-with with speed, efficiency, precision and consistency. With over 35 years of experience mastering the techniques of pad printing, CI Medical is unrivaled in its level of expertise.
We have developed many proprietary techniques to achieve superior printing, including image quality and the adhesion of medical grade inks to substrates with low surface tension, on virtually any medical device-regardless of size or surface irregularity.

Plasma Treatment
Report
Plasma gas pre-treatment improves medical ink adhesion on plastic substrates with chemically inert and non-porous surfaces with low surface tension, which can be very difficult to print on.
CI Medical has a water-cooled, Nordson March plasma gas chamber in-house.
Our proprietary five-gas surface treatment temporarily modifies the molecular surfaces of plastic substrates such as fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to increase surface tension and promote permanent medical ink adhesion.

Printable Materials
Report
Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer with variable crystalline structure and an extremely large range of applications depending on the particular type.
It is one of the most widely produced plastics in the world, but is challenging to print on.
CI Medical has the experience and expertise to print on surgical and implantable textiles.
Biomedical textiles (which include low-profile fabrics, monofilament knit mesh and multifilament knit mesh) are manufactured using textile-forming technologies and are integral components of sophisticated devices for cardiovascular, neurovascular, orthopedics and general surgery applications.
